TRT add-ons

TRT add-ons

After our “TRT PLUS” series, it is time for us to do an article for those who don’t want to go that far and who simply want to take safe natural supplements and/or synthetic drugs that work synergistically with TRT to improve their health, well-being or performance without having to use Anabolic Steroids.

Here are 3 natural supplements and 3 drugs that can improve your TRT protocol…

Natural add-ons

Boron

Boron is a mineral found in the periodic table. Despite not being strictly essential, supplementing with Boron can improve bone health, recovery and neuroprotection, but most importantly it can decrease SHBG and increase Free Testosterone.

Boron will cause a noticeable (but not alarming) increase in Free Testosterone, which can improve your performance, well-being and sexual function. You should take a week off for every two weeks you are on, since studies have shown that being on it for more than 2 weeks at a time could increase estrogen levels too much.

Take 5 to 6mg per day.

Saw Palmetto

This popular supplement is a mild inhibitor of the 5-alpha-reductase enzyme, mining that it blocks the reduction of Testosterone into DHT. This is very helpful in a hair loss and acne context, but it can also slow down or prevent the onset of benign prostatic hyperplasia (and its negative consequences on urinary function), something that most TRT users experience later in life.

Take 200mg a day.

Diindolylmethane

DIM is found in cruciferous vegetables which acts as a mild AI and improves Estrogen metabolism. If you are someone who tends to aromatize more than normal and your Estradiol levels are in the upper limit of the reference range, using DIM instead of a cardiotoxic pharmaceutical aromatase inhibitor may be a good idea.

Start at 50mg/day and work your way up to 150mg/day if necessary.

Other natural supplements you should be taking on TRT are Vitamin D3, Vitamin K2, Vitamin C, Magnesium, Zinc and Berberine.

Synthetic add-ons

A PDE5 Inhibitor

PDE5 inhibitors like Cialis (Tadalafil) and Viagra (Sildenafil) are extremely popular among TRT users. These compounds cause the dilation of blood vessels and increase blood flow, resulting in lower blood pressure, improved erections and better pumps/vascularity at the gym.

Furthermore, it can prevent benign prostatic hyperplasia and some studies suggest that it can also increase protein synthesis and build muscle.

Take 5 to 10mg of Tadalafil or 25 to 50mg of Sildenafil as needed (keep in mind that Tadalafil has a long half-life so there’s no need to use it daily).

Cardarine

Despite being potentially dangerous in the long run (due to the cancer studies in rodents), short-term Cardarine use will have a positive impact on cardiovascular health and insulin sensitivity.

It will also help with fat loss and endurance, so this is an obvious choice for men on TRT who value aerobic performance but who don’t want to use potentially toxic AAS.

Take 10 to 20mg a day, for no longer than 8 weeks at a time.

A Peptide

There are so many useful peptides that I don’t even know where to begin. Someone on TRT can benefit greatly from a healing pepide like BPC-157 or TB-500, but they can also take advantage of a sleeping peptide like DSIP, or a GH secretagogue like Ipamorelin or CJC-1295.

In fact, many TRT clinics offer peptide therapy, so you can ask your doctor for a prescription if you are not willing to do it on your own.

TRT is becoming increasingly popular among men of all ages, but especially men over the ages of 35. If you are on TRT and you want to optimize your health and performance even further, consider using some of these supplements and pharmaceuticals.
