Bromocriptine: Better than Caber and Prami?
Bromocriptine (also known as Parlodel) is a dopamine agonist similar to Cabergoline. It was developed and is still being prescribed for the treatment of parkinson’s, prolactinomas, diabetes and addiction withdrawal.
Bromocriptine can be very useful in a bodybuilding context thanks to its prolactin-lowering and hunger-inhibiting properties, which make it a perfect addition to a Nandrolone, Trenbolone or MENT cycle. These AAS interact with the progesterone receptor and cause prolactin to increase, which can lead to the development of gynecomastia, lactation and sexual dysfunction.
Benefits of Bromocriptine
Cabergoline is commonly used in this scenario to reduce Prolactin levels, but it has been shown to be dangerous for the heart, something that Bromocriptine is not known for.
Besides lowering prolactin and preventing the aforementioned side-effects, Bromocriptine will increase sex drive, it will decrease the refractory period and it will prevent high blood sugar levels.
The most interesting property of Bromocriptine, however, is that it stimulates leptin production. Leptin is a hormone made by fat cells that inhibits hunger. Leptin levels decrease when one is cutting and restricting calories, causing hunger to increase. By adding bromocriptine to a cutting cycle with Trenbolone, one can continue to lose fat without experiencing an absurd degree of hunger.
The downside of this, however, is that Bromocriptine may make it harder for one to eat enough when bulking up, so it may not be the best tool for the prevention of high prolactin during Nandrolone and MENT bulking cycles.
Side-effects of Bromocriptine
You may be wondering: “How come Bromocriptine is not as popular as Cabergoline or Pramipexole for the treatment of high prolactin in bodybuilding cycles?”.
Well, even though it is extremely useful for fat loss and heart-safe, Bromocriptine is rarely used because most users experience dizziness, fatigue, lethargy, nausea, and other nasty, annoying side-effects while on it.
The lucky few who do not experience these side-effects, however, absolutely love this drug and would never consider using Caber or Prami.
How to use it
The right dose of Bromo for prolactin-reduction and fat loss purposes is 1.25 to 2.5mg twice a day (morning and night). The half-life is around 12 hours, making it less convenient than Cabergoline and as convenient as Pramipexole.
In conclusion, Bromocriptine is a viable alternative to Cabergoline or Pramipexole, but its side-effects and limited availability mean it will never be the average bodybuilder’s first choice.
