Be the boss of your own metabolism

The rate at which your body burns calories is what we call “metabolism”. You will lose weight more quickly the faster your metabolism is. Some people gain weight more easily or struggle to lose weight because they have a slower metabolism. The good news is that by accelerating your metabolism, you can make your body more effective at burning fat. If you control your metabolism, you’ll always be in control of your weight.

What Causes a Slow Metabolism?

Sedentary Lifestyle: Your body will have more fat and less muscle if you don’t exercise.

The metabolism will be slowed down by lack of muscle mass.

Avoiding Meals: Your body needs energy to function, so when you miss meals, it slows down metabolism to avoid tissue breakdown and keep basic life functions.

Extremely Low-Calorie Diets: Simply put, your body won’t have the energy to burn calories if it isn’t obtaining enough food for energy.

Starving Yourself: When you don’t eat anything at all, your body defends itself by lowering your metabolism to the lowest levels possible, which prevents you from losing weight.

Alcohol Consumption: Although alcohol is okay in moderation, it tends to make the body sluggish and slow, thus from the perspective of weight loss, alcohol is best maintained to a minimum or avoided entirely.

Now, let’s see What Speeds your Metabolism Up!

Aerobic Workout: Your body keeps burning calories for hours after an aerobics, swimming, or walking exercise.

Conditioning The Body (with weights): Your metabolism will be higher if you have more muscle (even when you’re not doing anything).

Food (believe it or not): Consuming a variety of low-fat, healthy foods—especially carbohydrates like fruit, vegetables, bread, pasta, and rice—gives the body more energy, allowing it to burn more calories and shed pounds.

Small regular meals: Instead of eating huge meals that overwhelm your system and make you feel more sleepy and fatigued, eat small, frequent meals throughout the for a continual supply of energy.

Does my metabolism decrease as I age?

Surprisingly, your lifestyle has a greater influence on your metabolism than your age. How much you consume, how active you are, and how much muscle tone you have all affect your metabolism. Although we do have a tendency to eat more and exercise less as we age, this has more to do with lifestyle choices than metabolism. At ANY age, your metabolism can be slowed down or accelerated based on your lifestyle choices.
