Dapoxetine for premature ejaculation

Dapoxetine for premature ejaculation

Dapoxetine is a very, very interesting medication. On paper, it is an SSRI (antidepressant). In practice, it is an incredibly useful sexual enhancer that helps men delay ejaculation so as to not disappoint their partner.

The reason why it isn’t also used as an antidepressant despite belonging to the same class of drugs as other antidepressants is that its half-life is incredibly short (under 2 hours).

This means that it cannot increase serotonin’s action for long enough to have an anti-depressant effect, but it does increase it for long enough to allow one to delay ejaculation (studies have shown that low serotonin levels are linked to premature ejaculation).

Dapoxetine is quite popular among bodybuilders because many of them struggle with premature ejaculation due to AAS use, which can cause sexual overstimulation.

Benefits and side-effects of Dapoxetine

Dapoxetine is a very simple drug. It’s a failed anti-depressant that happens to be very effective at delaying ejaculation by increasing short-term serotonin activity.

Some people also report that they feel short bursts of happiness, euphoria and sociability after taking it, which would make sense considering the mechanism of action of this drug.

Other than these benefits, there is nothing else that Dapoxetine can offer. In terms of side-effects, you can expect to have almost none (some users report nausea, diarrhea and headaches, but these side-effects are possible with any drug).

Should you use Dapoxetine?

Even though Dapoxetine is a safe and effective drug that does its job very well, I do not think men who struggle with premature ejaculation should rely on it.

Sure, using it strategically is fine, but premature ejaculation tends to be a sign that something is not right. The leading causes of PE are low self-esteem, performance anxiety and mental health problems.

If you only struggle with PE on-cycle, go ahead and use it as an ancillary during the cycles. But if you always experience PE and you have struggled with it for a while, focus on fixing the root causes of PE instead of relying on Dapoxetine.

How to use Dapoxetine

If you are convinced that you want to use Dapoxetine, simply take 30mg 30 to 60 minutes before having sex. Keep in mind that the effects will only last for about 2 hours, so time it properly to make sure you get the best results.

In conclusion, Dapoxetine is a reliable way for men struggling with premature ejaculation to last longer in bed without experiencing any of the long-term side-effects that SSRIs are known for.
